Poetry for the People

Poetry for the People, a project started by Lisa Baldwin (Josephine County) and Seth Kaplan (Jackson County), has their culminating celebration of a six-month series of readings and open mic sharing of poems meant to defend our democracy, encourage civil discussion, and bring us together in community. Three events have taken place in Jackson County and three in Josephine County. It is fitting to hold this final gathering in the Applegate during the Jacksaphine Count(r)y Fair on Saturday, Sept. 27th, 3 – 5pm, at Red Lily Vineyard.

As our growing community of folks who appreciate how poetry can connect us, bring us understanding, and boost our spirits in troubling times, we invite you to join us as we gather to celebrate our successful run. The program will include readings of selected poems by local poets who participated in Poetry for the People gatherings, spring through summer 2025, followed by an open mic to share more poetry.
