Community Death Care Workshops

The Southern Oregon Living and Dying Alliance (SOLADA) is offering a four-part educational series of Community Death Care Workshops every month in Ashland, Grants Pass, and Williams, starting in January. These workshops will provide practical information and open conversation about end-of-life planning, caregiving, dying, and aftercare in a community-centered setting.

It’s never too late to start planning and (eat some pie! 🙂

PIES AND PLANNING (Workshop #1 of 4)

Sat. January 24 Peace House in Ashland 1-4pm

Sunday January 25 Center for Spiritual Living in Grants Pass 1:30-4:30pm

Saturday January 31 Pacifica in Williams 1-4pm

This workshop is a comprehensive and engaging event focused on advanced care planning in Oregon. It is designed for community members interested in understanding and preparing for end-of-life decisions.
The presentation portion will cover essential concepts of advanced care planning, including definitions, legal requirements, and Oregon-specific documents such as Advance Directives and POLST forms. Presenters will also introduce the concept and role of a Death Doula, as well as an overview of local resources.
During the intermission, participants can enjoy a pie bar, a perfect opportunity to network, relax, and discuss questions informally with presenters and peers.
The interactive workshop portion will feature break-out groups and interactive activity sessions, allowing participants to explore care planning scenarios, discuss personal values, and collaborate on strategies for effective planning. These activities are designed to make learning fun and memorable while fostering meaningful conversations.
The event will conclude with a summary of key takeaways, a list of resources for further support, and an open Q&A session. Participants will leave with a deeper understanding of advanced care planning in Oregon and practical tools to continue their planning journey.
