“Provolt After Dark,” a two-part event series by Applegate Partnership & Watershed Council (APWC) and the Provolt Volunteer Team, celebrates Southern Oregon’s dark skies. Hosted at Provolt Recreation Site, both events will amplify your appreciation of the wonders of nature that can only be witnessed at night.
Creatures of the Night:
Join us for a rare opportunity to observe Provolt’s most notorious nocturnal creatures in action. Begin the night with a short talk about the significance of preserving our dark skies with Travel Southern Oregon Director Bob Hackett. Then join BLM biologist Zia Fukuda on a guided walk where you will not only learn about bats and owls but get the chance to see and hear them for yourself! Wear sturdy shoes, dress in layers, and bring a flashlight or headlamp and bug repellent. Attendance is limited to 50 people. Registration is recommended.
