Library launches new website for digital services
Sponsors fund new “online branch” of Josephine Community Library
Grants Pass, June 10, 2020 —Thanks to generous grants from Oregon Community Foundation and Josephine Community Library Foundation, Josephine Community Library launched a new website to better serve the community, calling it the “online library” branch of the library system.
Much like a brick and mortar library, services on the website are now more accessible with the new website’s ADA-compliant features, virtual programming, peer-review articles, and themed library guides covering everything from computer basics and employment to disaster preparedness and S.T.E.M.
“The updated online branch of the Josephine Community Library looks great,” said Amy Cuddy, Regional Director of Oregon Community Foundation in a recent social media post. “It’s exciting to see the accessibility enhancements that increase connections between the library and the broader community.”
Community members can access the new JosephineLINK community database to retrieve information for hundreds of local organizations. This resource directory is curated by librarians and updated regularly with the most current contact information as well as hours, locations, and website addresses for each organization. To be listed with JosephineLINK, organizations must provide services to Josephine County residents on a free or sliding scale with no membership requirement.
Spanish-translation of the entire website is currently in progress.

In May 2017, citizens placed a measure on the ballot to permanently fund the libraries in Grants Pass, Illinois Valley, Williams, and Wolf Creek. For the previous 10 years, the libraries were supported by generous donations and the heroic contributions of more than 360 volunteers annually. The newly formed Josephine Community Library District (JCLD) is committed to enriching the community through access to quality library services across Josephine County and will continue to rely heavily on volunteers to run all four library branches.
