How do you protect your family from “witches, ghosties, and ghoulies” who prowl your fields and gardens Halloween Night? Make a scarecrow! Where? At Hanley Farm’s “Harvest and Scarecrow Festival.” How? Scarecrow Making Kits will be available and contain all you need to make your scarecrow, including a variety of clothing options. Then, take your finished scarecrow home, OR leave it at the Farm and enter it in the “People’s Choice” contest.
OR, choose a historical character, dress your scarecrow in appropriate clothing, and enter it in this year’s “Director’s Feature Award” contest, “Oregon History Scarecrows.” You’ll need to bring your own outfits for this contest. Special prizes will be awarded for these special scarecrows!
There’s so much more to do, including: Pumpkin painting, apple bobbing, cider-making, children’s games, photo ops with SOHS’ 1946 Fire Engine. McKee Bridge Historical Society quilts display, and Hanley House tours featuring Southern Oregon Historical Society’s quilt display.
