BLM is proposing a timber sale in Williams called Late Mungers. The sale is 792 acres, 6 million board feet and involves Marble Gulch and Upper Powell areas. The plan removes trees up to 36 inches, opens up the canopy to 30 % and has 2-acre clearcuts. We are currently in a drought and a possible decrease in our water supply can be disastrous. The BLM has proposed this sale and marked trees and boundaries without an environmental analysis.
Please come to the protest rally in support of our trees.
We are wearing lime green shirts inscribed with
Trees Have Standing. Order you shirts now (email:
[email protected]), 6.00 100% cotton. Pick up your shirts at the rally. Hike to Lake Mungers following May 21st rally.
There will be a sign making group on May 17th at 1:00 PM at SCA. Or bring your own.
Note: Second Hike on May 22nd
On May 22nd meet at 10am at the Williams Grange for a hike to Mule Gulch. This area is also a BLM timber sale site.
