Bugs and Bugs as Food with John Jackson of Bugs-R-Us, ALL AGES

July 2 @ 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

Bugs-R-Us is bringing their original portable zoo to the library. Witness some of the largest preserved insects on Earth! Special attention is paid to the world of insects, bug anatomy, bugs in the environment, what bugs eat, insect defenses, and camouflage. The audience gets to touch and explore live insects including three species of stick insects, a tarantula, two species of cockroaches, a vinegaroon and blueberry beetles. Other live but non-touchable insects include black widow spiders, bark scorpions, orb weaver spiders, beetles, praying mantids, superworms, and more. Attendees will also have the chance to eat real bugs (freeze-dried crickets and mealworms). Of course, touching and/or eating the bugs is totally optional!
