To make your own Holiday Wreath\, wreath making kits will provide all you’ll need: grapevine or fruitwood bases\, evergreens\, berries\, and trimmings such as dried hydrangeas and pinecones – all from Hanley Farm vines and the yards of volunteers. Wires\, clippers\, and ribbon will also be available. For that extra holiday “pizzazz\,” by all means\, bring your own special ribbon\, trimming\, and ornaments!\nAn additional treat – Santa will be there! Here’s an opportunity for children to whisper their secrets into Santa’s ear. And\, one of Santa’s elves will have a candy cane for each child. OH! DESCRIPTION:Does “a stitch in time” really “save nine”? Come on down to SOHS Hanley Farm on June 22nd between 5 and 8pm for an evening of fun and discovery! Explore the Hanley home and particularly note all the handmade quilts\, hooked rugs\, needlepoint\, and other items made by Hanley family members. Take a hayride and learn about the farm then and now. Decorate bonnets and hats\, learn simple embroidery\, and make a paper quilt block to add to our community paper quilt! \nDiscover the art of needlework in a way that is fun and engaging for everyone\, regardless of age\, gender\, or experience. And it is all free except for docent let house tours which are $10 for adults\, $5 for children—and 20% off for Southern Oregon Historical Society members!

DESCRIPTION:Spring is coming\, and so is the SOHS Annual Heritage Plant Sale at Hanley Farm\, 1053 Hanley Road\, April 29-30\, 11am to 3pm. Plus\, there will be a SOHS members-only pre-sale\, Saturday the 29th\, 10am to 11am. \nThe Annual Heritage Plant sale is the Society’s signature Spring event\, AND – – – we need your help to make this happen! Below are volunteer positions\, along with the schedule. \nGreeters\, cashiers\, plant wranglers\, an exhibit monitor\, and a relief person are needed for: \n\nFriday\, April 28: 11am to 1pm\, sale set-up and put labels on plants\nSaturday\, April 29: Shift 1\, 9:45am-12pm; Shift 2\, 12:15pm-3pm\nSunday\, April 30: Shift 1\, 10:45am-1pm; Shift 2\, 12:45pm-3pm. Clean up from 2pm-4pm\n\nJoin us April 29 & 30 and volunteer to help to make the SOHS Annual Heritage Plant Sale happen! You’ll meet new friends\, and have fun too! DESCRIPTION:Summer Thursdays at Hanley Farm \n4pm – 8pm * Thursdays\, June 2 – September 1\, 2022 \nHanley Farm* 1053 Hanley Road * Central Point \nJune 2\, SOHS Hanley Farm invites you to attend the first in a series of “Summer Thursdays.” Bring a picnic\, relax\, and enjoy the summer evening. Then stroll about the Hanley grounds\, take self-guided garden tours\, and every Thursday\, be sure to tour the historic Hanley House. Costumed docents will share stories about the history of the Hanley family\, their home\, and some of the farm’s history. Hanley House tours are $10 for adults\, and $5 for children 12 and under. Everything else is – FREE! \n  \nIn addition to Hanley House tours\, the first Thursday each month you’ll have the opportunity to tour the Farm’s “old barn.” Built in 1845\, it’s one of the oldest in Oregon that’s still standing. In the early 1900s\, Alice Hanley had the barn moved from the front of the farm to the back\, by Jackson Creek. Made of huge hand-hewn beams with pegs\, the barn was built as a stock and threshing barn. When the original second-story hayloft and center threshing floor were removed\, a hayfork system was installed. Wagons were driven into the barn and grains\, still on their stalks\, were spread on the floor. The heads were knocked from the stalks by beating with a flail. \nAnd on third Thursdays\, be sure to take a wagon ride. Great fun for the entire family! \n  \n
