SUMMARY:Beginning Farmer Training for Veterans
DESCRIPTION:Growing Veteran Agripreneurs (GVA) is a beginning farmer training program for veterans interested in pursuing small-scale agriculture. Over the course of a season\, participants are exposed to all aspects of sustainable\, small-scale farming through hands-on field experience at SOREC in Central point\, farm tours\, online classes\, and one-on-one mentoring. Topics include: production propagation\, soil management\, farm business planning\, irrigation\, drought mitigation\, tools and equipment\, integrated pest management\, marketing\, seed saving and small livestock operations. Class times vary based on tour locations and daylight hours but will be on Wednesdays starting at or after 3pm. Registration Deadline is April 28th.
