DESCRIPTION:Join us for a family-friendly event featuring a dynamic mix of presentations and interactive demonstrations focused on wildfire and community preparedness. \nAttendees will have the opportunity to explore tables with essential information and resources– including how to access financial assistance for fuels reduction on private land in the Applegate. Come learn how to take action and hear from experts on a variety of wildfire related topics! \nNEW: This year’s the fair will start with an evening “kickoff” event on Thursday\, March 6th (5:30-7pm) at the Ruch Outdoor School Gymnasium. The theme of this event will be “prescribed fire”. It will feature a short film documenting the use of prescribed fire in Southern Oregon\, followed by a panel of local experts discussing the topic\, and finally a Q&A session with the community. \nPresentation schedule for the day… \n10-10:45am: Welcome from Applegate Fire District – Home Heating and Best Burning Practices w/ Williams Fire \n11-11:45am: Planning for Wildfire on the Community Level (Applegate Partnership) \n12-12:45pm: Building Firewise Neighborhoods in the Applegate (Firebrand Resiliency Collective) \n1-1:45pm: The Applegate Valley Resilience Hubs Initiative (A Greater Applegate) \n2-2:45pm: Biochar as a Tool for Rural Landowners (lllinois Valley Fire Resiliency Group) \n3-3:45: Emergency Communication\, Alert Systems\, and Evacuations (Jackson County Emergency Management + Oregon Department of Resilience and Emergency Management) \nDemonstrations… \n11-11:45am: Kids Programming (Southern Oregon Forest Restoration Collaborative) \n12-12:45am: Fuels Management Tools (Burnbot) \n1-1:45pm: Kids Programming (Southern Oregon Forest Restoration Collaborative) \n2-2:45pm: Firewood Moisture Demonstration (Applegate Fire District) \n3-3:45: TBD \nStop by whenever!
