DESCRIPTION:Join Pollinator Project Rogue Valley for our annual Spring Native Plant Sale for the Pollinators!  \nThis sale provides the largest selection of plants native to the Southern Oregon bioregion all in one place! \nLocation: Parking lot behind The Pollination Place\, 312 N. Main St.\, Phoenix (corner of 4th St.) \nFind lots of native plants that support your local pollinators from Pollinator Project Rogue Valley and vendors like Klamath Siskiyou Native Seeds\, Cornucopia Acres\, and OUR Community Forestry! Plus our friends with Siskiyou Native Plant Society\, Siskiyou Chapter! \n* Please expect the first hour or two to be VERY crowded! \n* Please – no dogs except service animals. \n* Parking is VERY limited at the sale site. You will find parking on Main Street\, along neighborhood streets\, and in the Umpqua Bank and Civic Center lots. Be prepared to walk a block or two \n* Vendors are unable to accept payment for other vendors – please pay for plants in the space they are in. \n* Not all vendors take credit cards. If paying in cash\, small bills are always appreciated. \n* If possible\, please bring boxes\, bins\, baskets\, or other containers to carry your plants. \n* Restroom facilities will not be available. \n* Helpful volunteers will be available to help with plant selection and to load out large purchases. \n* Vehicles will be able to access the area for pick up after purchase\, but bringing a cart to transport your purchases back to your car is a good idea. \n* Pollinator Project Rogue Valley will have merchandise for sale (native plant books\, bumble bee books\, yard signs) and donations are always appreciated! \nPollinator Project Rogue Valley is a volunteer-led Oregon-registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit concerned about the health of our native pollinators and plant communities. We offer multiple programs to help realize our goal to increase\, protect\, and steward native plants for native pollinators. Our Growing Gardens for Pollinators program encompasses our on-site nursery where we propagate native plants to share with the community through donations and plant sales. SUMMARY:Hummingbirds: Chasing Flowers for 1\,000 Miles (Part 1)
DESCRIPTION:PPRV is excited to partner with Klamath Bird Observatory (KBO) for this two-part series about hummingbirds! The first part will be a learning journey in a classroom setting. The 2nd part will be an outdoor walk & talk to identify hummingbirds! Join for both\, or just one! \nWe all recognize the tiny\, dazzling hummingbird—but these birds are far more than just cute. Hummingbirds are extraordinary travelers\, migrating thousands of miles across North America while facing intense challenges such as predation\, habitat loss\, and a rapidly changing environment. In this talk\, we will explore what makes hummingbirds so special and different from other birds: their remarkable abilities\, their unique biology\, and the reasons they have been recognized as powerful spiritual symbols across cultures. You can make a difference in a hummingbird’s survival. Join us to learn how to help these incredible birds—and reconnect with and care for the nature around you. \nPart 1 – February 8\, 2026 – Martín López Aguilar will share will share fascinating insights into the biology\, behavior\, and conservation of hummingbirds\, drawing from years of hands-on field research and outreach. You will learn how important the beautiful hummingbirds are for pollination\, how suburban gardens can support declining populations\, and how our food choices can impact their habitat and lifecycles. \nPart 2 – May 10\, 2026 – Martín López Aguilar will lead a talk and walk to identify hummingbirds\, and demonstrate how to submit your data to eBird to support community science. \nMartín López Aguilar is a professional bird bander and Project Leader at the Klamath Bird Observatory\, where he oversees the bird banding long-term monitoring program. He is an NABC Certified Trainer for passerines and near passerines and has safely banded and handled thousands of birds in the US\, Mexico and Colombia\, including extensive experience with hummingbirds and more than 200 passerines species. Martín is passionate about conservation\, science communication\, and training the next generation of bird biologists.
