Sterling Mine Ditch Trail Maintenance at Wolf Gap TH
December 2, 2021 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
Our second work party of the 2021-2022 season takes us back to the Wolf Gap access trail, part of the Sterling Mine Ditch Trail system, where we’ll resume widening the tread. Much of this trail contours across open meadows and through oak woodlands on steep slopes, offering spectacular views to the Siskiyou Crest and the Little Applegate and Yale Creek Valleys! Expect to hike about 2.5 miles and 1500′ elevation gain total for the day, down from Wolf Gap and then back up the way we came.
Meet at the Wolf Gap TH, which is approximately 2.5 miles from the intersection of Sterling Creek Road and Deming-Armstrong Gulch Road. Turn left (south) off of Sterling Creek Road near the Mile Marker 9, turn left at the “Y”, pass the Deming TH, and proceed approximately 2 miles to the Wolf Gap TH.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it is possible that we would need to limit the number of participants or cancel a work party due to additional state/county restrictions, so be sure to watch for SUTA emails, Facebook posts, and the SUTA website with any updates. Please bring a mask to wear when we’re gathering and when we can’t be safely distanced while working.
SUTA will provide tools, and purchased wrapped snacks as well as some awesome home-baked goodies, plus bottled water, but we won’t be providing lunch (this time!). If you would like to socialize afterwards, bring your own lunch and we can spread out at the trailhead after the work party is over.
Wear comfortable hiking or work boots, bring work gloves and safety glasses, and dress in layers. Bring water and whatever special snacks you like, and pack a lunch if you’d like to visit with other crew members when we finish at 1:00.
RSVP: If you plan to come, please email SUTAoregoncontact@gmail.com so we can bring enough tools and snacks!
Thank you for helping us keep these community trails open!
