SUMMARY:Death Cafe
DESCRIPTION:A Death Cafe is a welcoming\, open gathering where people can come together to talk about life\, death\, and the experiences and questions that come with both.\nThere’s no set agenda or speaker\, just an informal\, respectful space to share stories\, ask questions\, and discuss the sometimes difficult topic of mortality in a way that brings connection and insight. Participants often find relief and understanding\, allowing conversations about death to enrich and affirm their lives. \nSOLADA offers four monthly Death Cafés across Southern Oregon\, each providing a unique setting to foster open conversations about life and death

SUMMARY:Death Cafe Conversation\, 13+ YRS
DESCRIPTION:In a Death Cafe there’s no set agenda or speaker\, just an informal\, respectful space to share stories\, ask questions\, and discuss the sometimes difficult topic of mortality in a way that brings connection and insight. Participants often find relief and understanding\, allowing conversations about death to enrich and affirm their lives. Parental discretion is advised for attendees under 18 as the content of these discussions is mature. \nSouthern Oregon Living and Dying Alliance (SOLADA) encourages open and honest discussions about the human experience of living and dying\, and its relationship to love and grief. Our goal is to help create compassionate\, caring communities that support individuals\, families\, and organizations during the transitions that accompany the dying process. Facilitators Ellen & Hayriya will hold the space and help the conversation flow. Ellen of Beatha Doula Services is a Life Doula who helps people with the transitions of birth\, death\, and life. Hayriya is the owner of Compassionate Care of Choice. She serves as a death doula\, consultant and educator in Southern Oregon\, and the driving force behind the creation of SOLADA.

SUMMARY:Stargazing at Wooldridge Creek Winery
DESCRIPTION:Applegate After Dark (AAD) is a collaborative group of community members\, local organizations\, and partners united by a shared passion for the night sky. The group first formed in March 2025 following an increased awareness that dark skies are a shared natural resource in need of protection for generations to come.\n\nOur “Stargazing” program at Wooldridge Creek Winery will commence with an after-hour gate opening at 6:30 PM to gather and mingle with beverages available for purchase. At 7PM\, Liz Shen (a founding member of AAD) will offer a presentation about the broader dark sky movement and how our local group is hoping to help others learn why and how to preserve our night sky. As the sun sets and the night sky takes over\, Sam Dennis (another founding member of the group) will guide participants in using their binoculars to view interesting celestial features from the sliver of our moon to planets and galaxies and star clusters and more!\n\n\n\nAll are welcome and the event is free. If the skies are not clear\, we will postpone the event. Look for updates closer to the date.
