SUMMARY:Oregon Citizen’s Utility Board | SOCAN General Meeting
DESCRIPTION:In exchange for being awarded regional monopolies for the delivery of electricity or gas\, Oregon’s utilities are regulated by the State-appointed Oregon Public Utility Commission (PUC). Any utility plans to expand service or impose rate increases must first be submitted to\, reviewed\, and approved by the PUC\, but only after public comments have been solicited and reviewed. \nFor more than four decades\, the Oregon Citizen’s Utility Board (CUB) has been Oregon’s leading utility watchdog\, ensuring that households and small businesses are represented in utility decisions.  SOCAN frequently submits comments to the PUC on utility requests\, often employing analyses developed by CUB staff. \nIn 2025\, the work of the CUB contributed to tangible wins: protecting customers from unnecessary rate hikes\, pushing utilities to accelerate clean energy investments\, and holding regulators accountable to Oregon’s climate goals. Their victories this year highlight the power of community advocacy in shaping a more affordable\, reliable\, and sustainable energy future for all Oregonians. \nSOCAN’s September general public meeting from 6:00 – 7:30 on Tuesday September 30th at the Medford Public Library\, 205 S. Central Avenue\, will focus on what CUB is doing. The program will feature David Betrán Barajas\, Community Organizer\, and Jennifer Hill-Hart\, Policy & Program Director. During the program\, they will discuss what is CUB and identify recent legislative and utility policy wins they have enjoyed\, notably the POWER Act\, Avista Gas wins\, and FAIR Energy Act. They will also preview anticipated CUB campaigns. \nThere is no charge for attending SOCAN events

SUMMARY:Heat Beneath the Waves: How Climate Change Transforms Our Seas
DESCRIPTION:Heat Beneath the Waves: How Climate Change Transforms Our Seas dives into the hidden impacts of greenhouse gases on our oceans—revealing how rising temperatures and acidification are reshaping marine ecosystems\, disrupting coastal communities\, and accelerating global climate feedback loops. \nJoin Southern Oregon Climate Action Now (SOCAN) for a thought-provoking evening with Dr. Bill Gorham\, Coastal SOCAN Co-Facilitator and longtime climate educator. SUMMARY:November Full Moon: A Ceremony of Grounded Release
DESCRIPTION:Tomorrow is the day!\n\n\nBeaver Moon in Taurus: A Ceremony of Grounded Release\n\n\nFull Moon Ceremony | November 4\, 2025\nRoot down. Let go. Remember what truly holds you.\n\n\nAs autumn deepens and the days grow quieter\, the Full Beaver Moon rises in the grounded earth sign of Taurus—calling us home to our bodies\, our values\, and our truest sense of safety. In a world that often asks us to grasp and accumulate\, this moon offers something different: a chance to let go of the illusion of control and return to what’s real\, raw\, and rooted.\n\n\nUnder the moon’s light\, we gather in ceremony to reflect on what we’ve clung to out of fear\, and to release it with steadiness and grace. This Taurus moon invites us to soften our grip on false security and make space for deep self-acceptance—so that peace is no longer something we chase\, but something we become.\n\n\nIn this ceremony\, we will:\n\n\nGround into the body with somatic movement and breath\nRelease what no longer serves through guided journaling\nExplore the themes of self-worth\, resistance to change\, and embodied trust\nConnect with the nourishing\, stabilizing energy of the Taurus moon\nShare sacred space in community under the glow of lunar wisdom\n\n\nThis is the moon that teaches us:\nYou do not have to hold it all.\nYou do not have to be unshakeable to be whole.\nLet the earth catch what you no longer need to carry.\n\n\nBring: a journal\, and a small item that represents what you’re ready to release (e.g.\, a note\, object\, or natural item for symbolic offering).\n\n\nAll are welcome. No previous experience needed—just your presence and your willingness to soften.\n\n\nCost: $44 or bring a friend for $33 each!\n\n\n120 SW J Street\, Downtown Grants Pass\nReserve your spot on our website www.NoMudNoLotusYogaGP.com or on the MindBody app!\n\n\nCall with any questions or for assistance reserving your space.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n541-244-1022
