DESCRIPTION:We’re fortunate to live so near a wide array of outdoor activities. The option to experience hiking\, rafting\, snowboarding/skiing\, and a picnic in the woods are all within a short walk or drive from school or home. Unfortunately\, sometimes\, a person become lost in the wilderness\, turning an enjoyable day into an anxious\, fear-filled event. Jackson County Search and Rescue wants every person\, especially children\, to know how to survive alone in the wilderness should they ever become lost. The Lost But Found Program was created specifically for this need and is being brought to a library branch near you. This unique presentation\, designed for children but adults are also welcome\, consists of a 12-minute video\, demonstrations of easy survival techniques and simple gear\, and a discussion/questions period led by a member of the Jackson County Search and Rescue team. \nAfterward\, children will have a chance to practice their searching skills around the branch in a scavenger hunt for a survival safety item as a prize for each one.

She received her yoga training at Authentic Yoga Teacher Training and Arizona Vedic Chant in Scottsdale\, Arizona\, and her naturopathic medical training at Sonoran University of Health Sciences in Tempe\, Arizona. She is currently working on her PhD in the Quantum Science of Integrative Medicine through the University of Technology in Jaipur\, India. \n

Unless we acknowledge and address the climate crisis\, sustainable living will not be possible. This inspiring evening brings the community together to champion climate science education and demonstrate a shared commitment to a sustainable future. \nWith live music from the Bill Scholer Band\, an array of wines\, beers and non-alcoholic beverages\, and the excitement of a mystery wine sale and eco-friendly raffle\, attendees will have the chance to connect\, reflect\, and contribute to meaningful climate action. \nAlthough the focus is on social interactions and conversation\, we will have a few short presentations. Among these will be a few encouraging words from Southern Oregon Public Broadcasting’s Keegan van Hook. DESCRIPTION:Elections always have consequences. This is especially the case for our potential to address the climate crisis when some candidates for office accept the science of global warming and it’s climate change consequences while others display something between skepticism and outright rejection of science.  From the local to the national level the outcomes from the 2024 general election will indicate profoundly whether meaningful action is likely. \nThe Southern Oregon Climate Action Now November General Meeting will focus on an exploration of what the election results mean for climate action in the near future. Special guest and notable climate champion State Representative Pam Marsh will offer insight regarding what the election outcome means for climate action as we approach the 2025 long session. Additionally\, SOCAN co-facilitator. Alan Journet will explore what the results mean for federal action\, Denise Krause will discuss what results mean for the Jackson County Board of Commissioners and SOCAN co-facilitator Kathy Conway will do likewise for regional city election results.
